Hey guys, I got my first plecco about a month ago. Whenever I approach my tank he will dart into hiding. He seems so scared, just wondering if this is normal behaviour for them?

Yeah my pleco does that. I'm always jealous when I hear stories of people whose plecos are out all the time. I thought my pleco was really beautiful too which is why I hit him. I see his poo more than I see him.

Edit*** I didn't hit him! I got him

Mine does the same, I try and take pictures and he darts off. Sometimes walking very slowly helps, I'm guessing they think were something going to eat them lol

My pleco doesn't care where you are, Sometimes he greets me at the front of the tank. The behavior depends on what personality your pleco has.

What type of pleco do you have? I have a rubberlip in my 55 that is almost always on the front glass who I see quite often especially when ZucchinI is dropped in the tank. Then I have a clown pleco that spends all of his time behind a dual sponge filter in my 20 Long and also drop zucchinI then the next day it is usually chewed up so I know he/she is doing well. Wish I seen the clown more it has a very nice design. Good luck seeing your pleco more often!!

My Albino Bristlenose doesn't like activity close to the tank,
and will go to his cave and wait until the coast is clear to
come out again. If you get a nice big piece of driftwood,
the Pleco will spend a lot of time on it...

Keep in mind Plecos are primarily noctural. Consider it a
treat if you get some viewing time when the lights are on.
