Tank

What is the water volume of the tank? 55g
How long has the tank been running? Since summer but had fish in smaller tanks for a little over a year
Does it have a filter? 2 big ones
Does it have a heater? Yeah it's controllable with a thermometer
What is the water temperature? 72 °f
What is the entire stocking of this tank? (Please list all fish and inverts.)
Sarasa comet that's small, bigger comet , little bI color common

Maintenance
How often do you change the water? Weekly changes , monthly big clean
How much of the water do you change? 25-30%
What do you use to treat your water? Start right
Do you vacuum the substrate or just the water? I do both but always vacuum the substrate

*Parameters - Very Important
Did you cycle your tank before adding fish? Yeah
What do you use to test the water? I don't have a kit
What are your parameters? We need to know the exact numbers, not just “fine” or “safe”.

Ammonia: n/a
Nitrite: n/a
Nitrate: n/a
pH: n/a

Feeding
How often do you feed your fish? 1-2 times a day or every other day
How much do you feed your fish? A couple pinches , enough for them all to eat in a few moments
What brand of food do you feed your fish? Goldfish flakes by tetra
Do you feed frozen or freeze-dried foods?
No but I do un-thaw frozen peas I buy fresh and feed them every once in a great while. 1 for small , 1-2 per big fish

Illness & Symptoms
How long have you had this fish? Little over a year, bought from Walmart
How long ago did you first notice these symptoms? Like September 22? And yesterday oct 4
In a few words, can you explain the symptoms? We noticed she? Was bloated. Next day I looked into it and it was dropsy already pine coning. Went in hospital tank, being treated with salt. Swelling was completely gone by 10 hours. Still in hospital tank. Tomorrow makes day 5 of tablet treating and yesterday I noticed she was bigger with a weird bum. It's like transparent around the anus and she's bigger like rounder but not pine coning. I believe she was having white poops too. And I haven't added salt bc I'm not sure if I could with the tablets
Have you started any treatment for the illness? Salt , tablets ( lifeguard all in one treatment )
Was your fish physically ill or injured upon purchase? Not that I'm aware of, no signs or symptoms of any diseases. Behavior was normal and was very active
How has its behavior and appearance changed, if at all? With dropsy , my Shubunkin was lethargic and laid at the bottom. With just salt water changes she perked up within a week, swims to top to eat and is active. Now she's active but kinda lethargic too

Explain your emergency situation in detail. (Please give a clear explanation of what is going on, include details from the beginning of the illness leading up to now)

A little over a year ago I got a American Shubunkin from Walmart. Everything was great about her, overall seemed really healthy. Never had an issue till this Sept. She had dropsy that was already hitting pine coning stage. From what I read, it's usually too late to save the fish. Well by 10 hours of adding the salt the swelling was gone completely. I still kept her in the hospital tank to make sure for the next few weeks. And then yest on October 3rd shes back to being chubby , but not pine coning and her anus looks swollen. Not prolapse from what I seen and it's like idk, sorta like transparent around the anus.

I believe she has had white poops too. But she's been being treated ? What could be wrong

Not much help if you don't know your parameters. Your fish might get dropsy from poor water quality. If I were you, I would daily water changes of at least 50% and get an API Master Test Kit.

You need a water test kit, there is no way to know if you tank is cycled or not without it, your fish could be sick from poor water quality.

Cycled in May, that was it. I have not tested it since and gave my stuff away. I have the one mentioned above in my Amazon acct

I have others too in other tanks. So I'm unsure why the Shubby is sick and none the others are. When it had dropsy it's bum never did this.

even if it is cycled, the small weekly water changes over a period of time can cause high nitrates, and also old tank syndrome. there are other toxins in the water that we don't test for and needs to be removed with large water changes. I have 3 decent sized goldfish in a 75 gallon and they produce between 20-40ppm nitrate each week, and I do 75% weekly water changes. Definitely appreciate the info ! Could that possibly cause the bottom to look this way ? I was thinking too it was constipated. Haven't fed peas in a minute
