Shrimps disappeared

Hi,

I have a 3.5g nano planted tank with 3 Amano and 3 Cherry shrimp.

It also has 4 CPDs.

Yesterday all of a sudden I found 1 Red Cherry Shrimp on the floor and couldn’t find 1 Red Cherry and 2 Amanos anywhere in the tank.

The tank has been running for 2 months with full filter media from an established tank. I do regularly check water params and the cycle is complete.

I do 2 40% water changes weekly without fail.

I checked my water params today morn -

Ammonia - 0 ppm
Nitrites - 0 ppm
Nitrates - 0 ppm
KH - 3dkh
Gh - 5dgh

What would have caused it?

The fish are all fine, and the remaining 1 Red Cherry and 1 Amano looks fine too.

Could they have perhaps been sucked into the filter?

Not a shrimp pro but doing larger WC's for shrimp can stress them out a bit more. They could have become weak and the CPD's may have picked on them. If you found one outside the tank chances are others may have jumped. Do you have cats and/or dogs that could have taken care of them before you noticed other ones on the floor?

Hi,

I am doing 2 WCs as the tank is relatively new. I do ensure I replace water with similar parameters including GH and KH. My tap water is soft, so I add Seachem Equilibrium to raise the GH as needed.

I do not have cats or dogs.

Hi,

I don’t think that's possible as the filter input has really small holes.

Just to ensure I have also checked the filter, but found none

Adjusting the ph is tricky and I’ll bet the WV with adjusted ph stresses them out. I doubt the CPD went after them. Mine don’t bother my shrimp.
that’s an awful lot of bipolar for a 3.5 gallon tank that’s 2 months old. Are the shrimp out and active picking at rocks for food? They could have starved.
