Instead of getting a school of cory catfish I'm wondering if it would be okay to get shrimp snails and another small schooling fish? if so what types should I get. my tank is a 20 tall with 2 honey gouramis and 8 neons. any help would be great thanks

I wouldn't add another non-bottom school to a 20 tall, but you should be able to keep shrimp and snails. As 75 gallon Discus said, kuhlI loaches would definitely work.

Neocaridina heteropoda shrimp are probably the easiest to maintain in a colony. And mystery snails (no more than 2) with a few nerites should take care of the rest.

I think you could do a school of small rasboras with your current stocking as well.

You could keep cherry shrimp, nerite snails, and mystery snails. I would do no more than 2 mysteries (they poop a lot for snails) and no more than 3 nerites. The cherry shrimp should have something to hide in, such as cholla wood or java moss. Don't worry about buying lots of shrimp because they will breed. Start with about 8 and that should be enough to get a population going.

There are tons of different color variants other than red. Reds are pretty though. I personally like my orange sakura best.
