Shrimp Question

I'd like to look into adding shrimp to my aquarium in the future. Not a for sure thing yet, just thinking this out now. I'll read into the water parameters and whatnot, but the main question i've got is; Do I need a lit or top to the tank with them? I've seen shrimp jumping a lot in the water out here, just thought about this the other day.

I kind of like my tank without the glass top. It's nice.

Yeah you'll need a lid. Shrimp are great escape artists.

I keep my large group of cherry shrimp in a lidless tank! I think the the trick is to not fill it up with water very high, but even then, I've never seen any of them making an attempt at escaping. One of my Amano shrimp on the other hand straight up climbed out of a 20g WITH lid and dried up and died on the floor next to the tank. I was heartbroken!
