Hubby says WOW! Then he says that is not Jupe! Does he truly look that much better?

He needs swimming room. Happiness equals speedier healing.

Tuesday is water change day so I’m thinking he might be going back into the big tank. Way more room on that tank. I’m gonna clean filters too (been putting it off WAY to long) but will the other canister I’ve had on the QT tank be messed up from the drugs?

Update! He got better, I got slack on water changes because I was crazy busy this weekend, and now we’re back to square one.

Found a vet, (sitting in the office now) and he recommends melafix, aquarium salt, and warmer water plus a bigger QT. He’s gonna get a shot of antibiotics (of which I will try not to bolt out the door... freaking hate needles) and we’ll see what happens.

The shot should do wonders! I’m hopeful again! Thank you!

So! He’s doing better again, a lot more “active” and I say that lightly because he’s down to maybe 40% of all his finnage but still trying to boogie around. He ate a little, mostly because he can’t reach the bottom (no tail...) so I might have to get some floating food for him. I can *SO* tell the anti-anxiety drugs I’m on are working cause I was able to laugh at his inability to swim to the bottom. That and I haven’t completely lost it... few years but still somewhat emotional stable... naw, emotionally level. Never been stable in my life.

So the plan is, Wednesday I sent an update to the vet, and I might get more drugs that go straight into the water so I don’t have to lug his sorry tail-less butt into the city.

Poor Jupiter. At least it seems like he's doing some better though. Good luck with him.

You love the big lug and you know it. At least he’s still trying. You’re doing very well! Keeping us updated and everything! Keep up the drugs. I’d be gone without mine. Well that and Kipp. Can’t leave my Kipp! Lol

How did you get him to the vet? How much does he weigh?

I can just imagine since he’s been a maniac through this whole ordeal. Wonderful fish with a wonderful momma!

I thought about it but he was so stressed already. He has gotten bigger I think, 7” now I think? Something like that.

He didn’t drive this time but I might let him next time. it’s not like he can swim now, not with over half his tail missing. that stubborn fish is amazing.

So is his mom!

Hubby says looks way better though! Might have to make him a prosthetic tail.

That actually came up. How long you think before his fins will regrow. Judging on how long it took for my pleco to regrow his dorsal after my angel took a bite it of it, I’m expecting a few months.

It’s slow. I’m sorry

That sux. 3 steps forward, 2 steps back. It’s good you’re optimistic about this. I want what you’re having, please.

It’s either that or a bawling sobbing mess of hystericals.

Sounds like something I’d say!
I meant to ask, how is Jupe acting? Other than the swim issues. Does he seem to feel better?

He’s attempting to be more active. Part of the reason I’m wondering how long I should keep him separate. At least until all the red is gone and I see that his fins are growing back, but he’s gonna go insane if he’s stuck in that tank alone for the next year or how ever long it’s gonna take to regrow.

I think once you see new growth and he’s obviously out of the woods he’d be happier in the big tank. Jupe should be happy. (Bet he’s loving all the special attention he’s been getting!)
