Do you have a pic of Jupe before he turns blue?
There are some on the thread but they’re not the best. He wasen’t being cooperative for pictures. I got lots of when he was healthy. don’t have kids or I take pictures of my pets

Should be able to get it at a fish store. If not Kanamycin or ampicillin should be available.
Ah, Oxytetracycline is the acting ingredient, not the product.

Same fin, (pectoral in particular) a few days apart.

I’ve got to go treat the horse and kitten, feed the ferals, do a PWC on my 29. Be right back.

Three different antibiotics.

Lousy picture but it shows the red on his body.

I have to head to bed, everything is long closed so not much I can do until tomorrow anyways.

Hey scarface from the description my friend gave me, it’s definitely antibiotic time?

Hi, Gypsy13. Unfortunately, I’m not one to ask. I’m too inexperienced with fish diseases, so am hesitant to make any personal recommendations myself. However, I will say that it looks really bad. All the fins are red and very frayed. The whites on the fish appear pinkish, especially the face area, just like its fins.

Thanks that’s what I was afraid of. Hopefully she can get some antibiotics today.

You guys are awsome, you have no idea how much this means to me.

I can get antibiotics today, and he’s defiantly more active this morning then last night. The red on his back looks a little less then yesterday but everything else is pretty pink still.

That’s the best news I could’ve gotten this morning! Keep it up and get the antibiotics. Jupe can’t jump out of his qt can he? I’ve been overworrying for you.

I don’t think he will, there is a lid set on top but it has crossed my mind if he tail whips the filter output like he’s done in the 65g how big of a mess that’s gonna make... might be tweaking that lid today.

Will find out in 10 minutes. Worked an hour later then usual.

Maybe a tiny bit better but no worse.

Ok, gonna go buy drugs, then do a waterchange. Replace the M blue that I took out and add the antibiotics?

Danios will take advantage of any live feeding opportunities. They certainly tore this baby up. They aren’t the cause of the beginning fin issues but they did their worst. Don’t be mad at the danios. Just following their nature.
And please please jump in especially if you notice I go off track. SirI is a life saver for me but tends to skip important stuff.

Caught me off guard too. I didn’t think they were nippers like barbs. Just wish I had realized what was going on sooner...

Danios are very opportunistic voracious and fast. I’ve had them all my life. I’ve always thought they wished they were piranha!
All that matters now is Jupe. He’s got a lot more life left to enjoy.

Hard to tell. The rays in his fins are showing worse then before but but I don’t think he’s any redder. He’s still active. (Ish, not bottom sorry anyways. It’s not like he’s got a lot of room.)

Did a 50% water change, replaced the Mblue and got Kanamycin so did a full dose yesterday and then replaced what I took out during the water change. Tomorrow is a other full dose.

YAY!!!!! Finned pig with attitude! Can’t ask for more than that! Thank you, oh thank you! I know he’s got a ways to go and you still have a lot of tending to do but I’ve got tears! He ATE! If I could do a happy dance I would!

He never lost his appetite, so I’m kinda thinking it was the stress of moving to a MUCH smaller tank that got to him. Good to know he’s settling in.

Forgot to mention - water conditioner deactivates m blue, so wait at least 30 mins between adding those 2.

Looks like the red in his tail fin is going down. His fins look more ragged but at this point I think all the rotten flesh is just falling off.

The fins should all grow back. Had my vet look at the last pic. He thinks Jupe will be ok. Made me feel better having him describe Jupe. He knows exactly what I’m looking for. Poor hubby takes forever to get to the parts I need to know about. Thank you for the update.

Ok. I think he’s gotten worse again. scarface Gypsy13 His fins are very red again and some black. Tomorrow is the last dose of the antibiotics (says not to do more then three doses) so I’m not sure what to do. I kinda thought about trimming his fins, especially his pectoral fins, because of how ragged they still are but I have no idea. I don’t even know where to look for a fish vet and that’s an hour away anyways. (He was *so* not happy about those pictures)

You're using kanaplex alone, correct?

Maracyn 1 & 2 are the next course of action.

Is he living inside the M Blue tank or are you doing baths?
