Looks more like a bitaeniata than a cacatuoides. That could be the blurry photo, though.

Steel Blue don't have spikes at the front of the dorsal. I also considered trifasciata as a possibility. In fact, now that I look closer, I think it is more likely trifasciata than bitaeniata. More blue in the dorsal as opposed to red. (ignore the maciliense part of the name, the fish were misidentified when I bought them.)

You are right with the first guess on both.
It is bitaeniata tefe and a bit of a blurry pic.

coralbandit the steel blue looks very similar.
Good guesses

Ahh, now that the tail is visible, I can clearly see that it is bitaeniata! I'm unfamiliar with that population, that's why the color had me confused.

Thank you.
Tbh when I first got it home I was nervous to put it in the tank.
The spiked fins make it look mean.

Also was very upset it was in a bag, never had a fish ramming the bag on the way home.

Obviously its all good, just alot of cool character traits in these cichlids.
