I Love these! Especially that fourth one. The crypts growing out of the background is a really cool design.

JLAquatics

Greetings, everyone. I just made an article here on Fishlore of how I created my 29 gallon aquascape that you can see throughout this thread along with tips I used to create this. As an aquascaping newbie myself, I have heard from other people that they just can't make an aquascape. For those of you who don't think you can make an aquascape, think again. It is really simple if you follow a few easy steps. Here is that tank I am talking about (my only tank at this point, about to change haha) as of today along with a nice shot of my Staurogyne Repens. I hope my tips help others with their tank plans. Happy scaping, everyone.

I have 3 tanks a 5g, 10g, and a 40g.

5g - has some algae but but my betta is happy in her tank so I dont mind it.

1615257326239.png

10g - probably my favorite tank. 100's of shrimp, 7 ember tetras, and 7 corys growing out until I move them over to the 40g tank. Literally no nitrates because of the plants but I still do water changes.

1615257387552.png

40g - most recent tank I have set up and I am loving it! Plants are still growing in but the crypts in there have to be my favorite plant.

I really like that driftwood you used in your 40 gallon. It has much character, despite being an inanimate object. Also, nice looking Amazon Swords. I bet your fish are loving it in that tank!

Thank you so much! I got super lucky finding two pieces of wood that made that shape. My fish and shrimp LOVE the 10g tank, swimming back and forth through the plants all the time. I cant believe that the amazon swords were so tiny when I first got them. Had to trim them down sm last night.

Yeah, if you look closely at my tank, I have a sad Amazon Sword towards the back center of the tank. I do dose root tabs, but I just haven't had luck with these plants. No matter, though. The Water Wisteria I have is taking over anyways and my fish and shrimp hang out in that.

Some plants just never work out for us. I also had wisteria in my 20g before shutting it down and it died on me even though I had root tabs as well lol. I had a whole bunch of hornwort in my 20g all died but one and now that one has become 4 tall pieces. I guess some plants just work out and others dont.

I wonder if it also has to do where and what conditions the plants were originally grown as well. In my case, I have had great luck with plants from PetSmart in those little tubes, yet all the plants I got from my local fish shop are not doing so hot. My Dwarf Lily bulb remains just that, a dwarf a year after buying at the shop, yet the Water Wisteria from PetSmart is taking over. Definitely something to us planted tank people to consider...

I'm trying to rescape my 15g tall. Pls show me pics of yours and maybe links to the decor!

Hi! My tank is mostly silk plants (bought on Amazon) but I do have a moss ball, moneywart, a piece of driftwood, and a ton and a half of duckweed. My Betta King loves it all!
I just realized the pic is like a “where’s Waldo”! Try to find my fish lolol

It's been a while since I've taken a photo of my 20 gallon tall; gradually moving towards a more island-style scape, and FINALLY getting closer to almost having "enough" anubias!

Did some chopping in a couple tanks, brightened up the rack quite a bit.

Chopped these two back significantly:

Latest update on my Aquascape. I did a revamp with the front area and plan to let some Crypts and the S Repens carpet fill in more. I took a distant shot because I really like what it looks like from a far and have never done that before. Oh, and I added an image of a map project that I created on a laser cutter (using 11 layers of wood) as a bonus for those of you that are into graphic design (I know it isn't an aquarium but I sure am proud of it).

Thank you! This spot is what got me into fish. How could you not keep a tank there?

Simple one but I'm really pleased with the grow in on my 5g snail tank.

Fishnturtleguy933

Took the hampster tubes out of my 40 breeder. Makes it look huge compared to before. There's some new fish in there including a green dragon bn pleco and a bunch of glowlight tetra.
Been thining out my salvinia minima weekly. Trying to work out shipping to try and sell it instead of composting it. Might even start propogating my water sprite soon.
50g tall has gained an albino bn pleco and some new anubias. If you can't tell by the lego decore.....I'm a bit of a nerd lol. Couldn't get any. Good pics of the fish. The dragon likes to hang out in the bacopa and cholla wood and the albino is hard to track as it's only about 2" and is all over that huge spiderwood.

Hey everyone! I just finished aquascaping my new 5.5 gallon for my betta, and tidied up my other 5 gallon for my other betta! They're my first aquascapes and my first planted tanks and I'm pretty proud of them and wanted to show them to everyone! But I figured it would be fun for everyone to show their aquariums, we put so much work into them so it's only fair to show them off!!

Hi welcome to FishLore!!
You have the touch, that's for sure. They look great!

We have merged your thread with the existing thread.

BigManAquatics

Did a little adding to one of the betta tanks and the 29. Never mind the gravel in the 29....thats what my wife wanted.

This is my 37 gallon, its my only "big" tank and I'm really proud of it it looks empty in the pic but ive got 6 panda cories, a few amano shrimp, 10 kuhli loaches and 2 bristlenoses, a lemon blue eye and a regular black/spotted one. They're my favourite fish besides bettas

This is one of my betta tanks, its 7 gallons I think and has had a black background put on since this picture

Ive got another 5 gallon and a 15 but they need a lot of work done. They're my older 2 and Ive progressed a lot since I set them up so one day soon I'll get them fixed up

If you don't like it the way it is right now, try making a much more simple design with like 1 piece of wood and 5 rocks. No offense, but right now it seems that the scape has just too many things going on in it (EX: a lot of wood and plants going in a bunch of different directions).

Lol, that's what I love so much! Although, my style is kinda just "things everywhere look good"

Good job with the rocks. Not easy to build structure with small river rocks.

(Sorry for the bad quality pics)

This first tank is my 1.1 gallon bow front tank I just set up earlier today, and it’s yet to get a light lol. I just have some pest snails in here, cuz I recently got them in some of my plants I got, but I’m not the type of person to just kill an animal, even a pest snail lol, so I set up a tank specifically for them, and it might get a couple shrimp in the future

Then the second pic is of my 5.5 gal, it has my red crowntail betta, Jack, who has the sweetest personality. Jack was actually a rescue betta, I got him from a pet store near me, he was in a little cup and he had swim bladder, and ofc I couldn’t just leave him, so I got him and he’s completely better, and has no swim bladder issues now. It also has 6 harlequin rasboras

Has anyone ever used these colorful glass rocks in their tanks? I saw them at my LFS and thought they might look good in a nano tank with my elephant ear betta.

No because then it would look empty and I would hate it lol. I was supposed to be like a hill stream because I have some gobies in there, but I may just change them into a smaller tank and start this tank from scratch with new fish and new hardscape.
