Show Off Your First Tank

Newbies, show off your current work. Seasoned keepers, if you have photos, show off your first tank. Let this thread show that everyone has to start somewhere. Critique, praise and comment in a respectful way, we are here to guide others in the right direction in this hobby afterall.

I'll post my first 10 gallon betta setup from several years back. I had no idea what I was doing, but I knew one thing: live plants were supposed to be good for fish. In retrospect I did a lot wrong, but nobody starts off knowing everything.

If I could offer one bit of advice to newcomers, it'd be this: please do your homework before buying anything. I did a lot of driving back and forth returning stuff I didn't research before buying and messing my tanks up!

 

First tank, just propogated all my plants, a jungle will ensue a week later.

I dose excel once a week, 10ml KCL then rely on fish poop for my phosphates and nitrogen. Root feeders using osmocote aquatic. Plants thriving as of now, even propogated a baby amazon sword. All the research paid off my lighting is fluval fresh and plant 2.0 on about 50% intensity and I have co2, but also no algae issues. Been real lucky I reckon.

Got a bunch of fishies in there now, but heres a blurry pic.

I'm posting here so I can remember to take a picture in the morning. My tank has two filters in it right now because I'm seeding a sponge filter. It looks ridiculous haha.

 

This was my first "tank". Those plants did not last long. Lol. Or the tank before an upgrade for that matter. How far I've come.

Definitely wouldn't have gone with this tank now, and I would have bought actual hardscaping stones, but I was very happy with it at the time!

I don't know where OP got theirs but PetSmart sells them for $15 in my area.

Everything came from Petsmart, including the plants which were in those plastic tubes. Don't buy those plants if you can help it lol.

 

Alright so this is my first tank since the 0.5 gallon I had as a tiny child with a betta and a cory cat. It's a 5 gallon, and it's heated and filtered. I've learned a lot since starting this tank.
Right now it has like 50 gallons of filtration in it because I'm seeding a sponge filter. I'll remove the old filter in a few days.
My betta has crazy finnage (dumbo halfmoon) and he's hiding behind his skull right now. He gets really tired fighting the current on the other side of the tank, which is why I'm changing to a sponge filter. When I get rid of the old one I'm gonna get some taller silk plants so that he can have some stuff to rest on higher up in the tank.
