Should I Upgrade To A Bigger Tank?

I have a BETTA in a 2.5 gallon tank. I want to upgrade to a 5 gallon tank. Although, I'm not sure how to go about doing it. What are the steps I need to take? Will it make my fish sick? Should I just keep him in the 2.5 gallon or should I upgrade to a 5 gallon. Thank you so very much for your help!!

Please do!!! Get a Fluval spec. They are super cheap especially if you get them in used. Will need to mod it a tad. But your betta will be a **** of a lot happier.

Definitely get him a bigger tank. It will be much more enjoyable for the both of you.
I would give advice on how to upgrade and transfer your fish. But the way I would do it, a lot of the members would disagree. So I'll keep it to myself.

That's what we have. Love, but like you stated, it needs too be modified a little.
The flow could be a little strong for some Bettas. My wife's Betta loved it, and would constantly play in it, and get blown across the tank. So, if your Betta doesn't like a lot of current, you will have to baffle it a little. You can use a piece of driftwood to distribute the flow, or put a piece of sponge in the outflow, to help.
If you plan on keeping real plants, the led lights are only good for very low light plants. You can upgrade the leds, anywhere from 30$ or so to 80$ for very good lights.
If you plant to keep any type of shrimp, there is a hole towards the bottom that will also have to be covered or blocked, or else the shrimp will get in the filter compartment, and it's almost impossible to get them out (ask me how I know). I would also suggest doing the same with the slots at the top of the overflow.
One more thing, the filter compartment is small and very tight which can make it hard to clean.
I'm not bashing the the tank, and will recommend it to anyone that is looking for a tank for a Betta. I can tell you all the great things about it, but rather let you know of the short comings, which imho is more important in this hobby when recommending products.
Oh yes, I almost forgot one thing. Since the top doesn't completely cover the tank, you may get a lot of evaporation, so be prepared to top off every 3-4 days.
Hope this helps. I tried to be as thorough as possible.

Either move your filter over to the 5 gallon or seed the new filter with some media from the filter from the 2.5 gallon. Assuming that you have a filter of course.

Bigger is always better. Always.

Go as big as you can. Just move the filter into the new tank.

I've not read any of this thread. Off the title alone the answer is always yes.
