Should I treat my main tank?

Mistacliff

So I messed up and didn’t quarantine properly. A new fish that I added ended up coming down with velvet. I pulled it out and put it into the qt tank and tried to treat with meds but it did not make it. No one in the main tank is showing signs of anything but should I just preemptively treat the whole tank? Also what is recommended as meds to treatment.

I feel your pain. Cooper sulfate is the med of choice and it's not a main tank friendly chemical. You could move your livestock to your QT and treat there. It's going to take a while to be sure you got the parasite. You could leave the main tank fallow for 6 weeks. Some folks recommend Chloroquine Phosphate as well.
I quarantine everything - 6 weeks.
