I’ve had my betta for nearly 2 years now (after getting him at Petco after two months) he is a metallic dragon scale half moon. Recently I’ve noticed he’s been growing a tumor on his back, I never paid too much attention since it’s common in pet store bettas and other than the small (at the time) growth was completely normal.

But today during a water change I saw that not only is the tumor much bigger but it’s poking through his skin, exposing pink flesh. He seems much more tired and isn’t exploring the tank anymore. Waiting at the bottom at of the tank til feed time or sitting on floating plants.

I’m not sure if it’s time to finally put him down or hold out and hope he has a couple months left.

You could possibly get it surgically removed.

Any chance of pictures? It's hard to tell without one, but I'm afraid it may be time.
