Should I get a UV Sterilizer?

hay guys my tank is getting there,

1 cleaner shrimp
2 nazuriues snails
3 hermet crabs
1 pink toad stool.

I feed the cleaner shrimp frozen blood worms also freeze dried shrimp krill and flake food is this OK?

I also have a algae bloom any ideas I'm using phosphate remover at the mo in the external filter need more in it??

also I have a refractometer how do I now how much salt is being taken out then I do my 10% water change every 2 weeks, and how do I put the same amount back in.

do I need a UV sterilizer?? no green water just a bit of a growth in algae.

Lets see .. Cleaner shrimp eats almost anything. I feed mine Formula 1, krill and sliversides.
phosphate: Do you test for phosphates before you started adding phosphate remover ?
Salt: You really don't loose salt if you mix the same amount of salt at your water change. What do you do for top-off water ?
UV sterilizer: I don't use one. Not necessary. IMO.

yes there was phosphate present, I use ro water then mix salt in it but I don't know how much I take out of the ten persent change to put it in the new ro water do I use the refractometer?

thanks for your help mate please any more info is apresheated, I also have like grass alge on my pipe for the skimmer is that safe to leave in there? also I now have some red stuff growing on the rocks what is it?? like a slime.

Read this post about my battle with red slime cyanobacteria.

It should give you some ideas of what to do. I recommend taking care of it ASAP.

brill thanks for the heads up mate, not too surer on the foil trick purly because I have a pink toad stool that needs light.

Not sure about the toadstool either. From what I gathered from Agsansoo, it would be ok for a couple days. Good luck. I still have a couple, small patches but they stay under control. I have a mexican turbo snail that would eat it when I firt got it but I don't think he liked it very well. He avoids it now. Same for my jumbo ceriths.

ha ha ok mint, thanks mate but I took all the rock out today and cleaned it all so far so good think I might get some turbo snails now.

What do you do for top-off water ? Are you adding fresh water to your tank also ?

no tap, but just got 100l of r/o water from my lfs, so will be using that from now on.
