Should I be concerned? Nitrites high

I just got my test kit today so I've been going through the tests. Since I've been working on cycling for a while, I checked nitrites. They registered as high as the test would go (0 in the tap). OK, no problem, I could fix that, right? Well, after a 50% water change they're still up at the top. I do have a couple of Anubias in the tank. Should I be worried about the nitrite levels? I'm wondering if a full change is in order but I don't want to do that to my developing bacteria. For now I've given it a hefty dose of Prime and will recheck in the morning in case the new water just hasn't circulated yet.

If you have fish, yes you should be worried. If you do not, let it keep cycling. I'm going to assume because you dosed with prime, that you do have fish. Changing out water does NOT efffect the bacteria and will keep your fish safe.

Definitely a red flag when you tested your waters and Nitrites are off the charts. If Nitrites still continue to be high, I would do daily water changes until the Nitrites are at a manageable level.

OK. I don't have fish but I do have plants and I was concerned about keeping them safe. I also want to be sure the levels of nitrites don't kill off the very bacteria I'm trying to grow.

without fish in the tank I would not worry as much, it is part of the cycle. If it persists then I would be concerned.
