How do you guys use shop lights on your aquariums? Do you just toss a glass canopy on the tank and set the fixture on the canopy? Would it warp the canopy or something?
Or do you guys suspend the fixture?
    Or maybe something else?

Just going through all my lighting options for my upcoming 40 :)

I used two double tube shop lights for my reef tank. I just built a hood to match the stand that I built, and installed the light fixtures in that. I thought of getting the plastic cylinders that they sell for restaurant use on each of the bulbs, but never did. They lasted quite well, and provided plenty of light for my 40 long.

Thanks for your input! That sounds like a good idea; I'll have to look into it then!

I built my stand using Uarujoey's method and he also has a DIY canopy video so that would be easy enough to learn; his video was easy to follow. I'm not the best craftsman but I managed to build a durable stand lol! I think a canopy would be much easier.
