Shell Cleaning?

Gary has been preoccupied with reaching around and "cleaning" his shell. Is this normal? He has a cuttlebone in the gravel and also one in the filter. Is he eating the little bit of algae on his shell?

It's possible I suppose though I've never seen mine do that. I have, however, seen my snails clean each other's shells! Maybe mine just don't need to do it themselves.

Can you see anything on his shell that might be bothering him?

If the tank is too clean it's possible. I would be concerned about him eating his shell.
You could take a bit of cuttle bone and crush it to a powder so it disolves more. Also, you could put a cuttle bone in the filter.

I currently have a few adult and a ton of baby snails in my tanks that are all doing well but my past snails all had shell issues that were most likely from not enough calcium. I got a bottle of liquid calcium and add some with every water change.

I don't see anything different except a little green that comes and goes. Algae?

Probably. If it's not getting too thick and gross then he's probably fine taking care of it himself
