I’m wondering how long it takes for the sexing characteristics to show. I just picked up a pair of peacocks from my LFS and I realized when I got home that they just gave me a large and small fish out of the group. They don’t really look any different other than the size. I’m guessing they’re maybe 3-4 months old and are about 3/4”-1”. Thanks!

A good tell is the shape of their heads. Males tend to look 'bulgy' and a lot rounder, a little like a beluga whale type thing whereas females don't. My female always had a more rotund belly too

Females will have a black edge on their fins. This develops earlier than the males humped head.
