Hello everyone, I recently bought two new Angelfish from a local fish store and was wondering if you guys could help me determine the gender of these two. As I am a beginner in having a tank I just needed some other input as to what you think the gender of these two fish are. Please and thank you any advice is welcome.

I believe first one is male, second is female.

They are both juveniles, and unsexable at this time.

It is possible to sex mature angels, but not easy, and nothing is 100%. It took many years, looking at hundreds of individual fish, and even then I sometimes find an Angel that I just can't be sure about.

I agree that they are too young to sex, and it is never 100% with angels. The only time to know for sure with an angel is if they pair up and start spawning! But there are certain traits that are most common in one gender!

I just have to say that I absolutely LOVE your white angel!! It has the pearlscale trait which is my favorite angelfish trait! That one is gorgeous! What species did they say it was? it looks like one I just ordered online...a Phillipine Blue Ghost pearlscale angel

They did not unfortunately, it's also not easy to tell from the pictures but he\she also has those black vertical stripes that are usually vivid along with "pearl scale". But thank you guys so much for the information

Thank you so much! Any idea on how old these little guys are, I was reading somewhere that they typically start spawning and pairing up around the age of 8 months is that correct??

I had my angels for around a year and had no clue what sex they were until they started spawning just a few days ago lol

Angels are one of those species that's very hard to tell until you see them spawning.
