Senior Project Ideas?

Hey there!

I have a few days left to decide what I would like to do for my senior project in high school. I would like to do something aquaria/fish/water realted, but I'm having a hard time coming up with ideas. I've considered building my own fish tank, but that's about my only idea. Does anyone have any ideas or similar experience? I'd appreciate any help so thanks in advance!

A breeding project? Or a plant growth experiment

Following! I've got a couple of years before I need to do something like this, but thinking ahead doesn't hurt

A comparison project with different all-in-one plant fertilizers. You could control all of the other variables (lighting, substrate, temp, ph, etc.) I'd bet that a little work on Facebook marketplace and you could find multiple FREE 10 gal aquariums. You could even do it across multiple aquatic plant species. Good luck!

You might be able to use the black landscaping fabric to block light but still have the same water elements in some way. Not sure what chemicals are in that stuff you may need to soak it to allow any leaching to play out

You could take a completely bare tank and let it cycle using pure ammonia, logging and tracking the test results. A chart could show the ammonia spike, then the nitrite spike, then nitrates. That would be interesting and good information for future fishkeepers.

Another idea, adding to GuppyDazzle's post, is that you could take one tank and change water daily on it, then another weekly, and another not at all, while keeping the same schedule of ammonia addition to them, say 5 mL weekly (just an example), and see if it affects the cycling process and how long it takes.
Good Luck!

I was going to suggest the cycling a tank thing as per #7 . Something you are familiar with but can still add a lot of detail without it being something completely new .
