Send visitor messages

Hello! I am new to the forum and just received a visitor message from one of the moderators (jdhef) about a possible problem with my account. I would like to send a response to try and clear this problem up but I cannot figure out how to send a visitor message to them.

I have tried going to their profile but did not see a button to press to send a message. I only see a button to press to look at our conversation but not how to add to it.

If someone could help me I would greatly appreciate it!

 

I think you are unable to send messages until you have 50 posts.

 

I thought that was only private messages? I had read on another thread that you could still send visitor messages seven before you reach the 50 post mark.

Members do not need a specific number of posts to leave a profile message.
It's 50 posts to private message.

Your bother responded so it's all good.

Oh okay! Thank you so much for explaining it Lucy! At least my sister was able to get a message through to explain it. She has always been better than me with computers haha

Maybe she can show you better than I can explain it.

There should be text box right above the messages on someone's profile.
(Unless their settings don't allow or limit messages to friends and contacts, such as mine )

 

Next time I am at her house I will definitely ask her. When I opened the conversation there was no box over it for typing so maybe that was the problem. Thanks for being patient with a newbie like me. I think io am going to enjoy being a member of this forum!

 

Whatever was wrong seems to have fixed itself. I just tried to send a message one more time for the fun of it and the text box appeared. Thanks again for the info And for making me feel welcome Lucy!

Oh, I see what happened.
When viewing a conversation it won't show a text box.
Just the message or messages.

Go right to the member profile. That's where you'll see the place to leave a message.

Glad you got it figured out.

 

Actually, members must have a few posts on the forum before being able to send Visitor Messages.

We used to allow all members to send VM, but unfortunately spammers have made it necessary to enforce a restriction.

Whatever was wrong seems to have fixed itself.

Once you got a few posts on the forum, the Visitor Message box would automatically enable itself
