What does it mean to seed filter media? how do you do it with a hob filter. if have an aqua clear 15 that is already set up. i just got a marineland penguin bio wheel 350. how would i seed the filter media without going through a cycle?

Typically leaving the new filter media in an established tank for a few weeks for the bacteria to colonize on it.

If you are replacing the filter and room permits in the new one, you can just take the old media and put it in the new filter with the new media. This will allow you to keep all of the bacteria and start the new filter immediately without a crash.

    Hope this helps.

    Happy Holidays!
