Seachem Questons? Stability in established tank & Flourish for snails?

I cycled my tank with Seachem Stability and have been using it as directed on the bottle since November. (Once a week with water change)

I heard when performing a water change you don't remove bacteria because they live on surfaces, so I'm just wondering how necessary it is to add Seachem Stability in an established tank.

Also not sure how bad this is but i usually do a 50% wc to 10g tank

Also... I have two nerite snails. I did read that Seachem Flourish is safe to use with snails as long as it's not excel. But my question is; does the calcium in Flourish help their shells or should I supplement with something else?

If the tank's established then supplementing with a bacteria booster isn't needed. Just take care to preserve the filter media.

The only caution I'd give on a 50% water change is to ensure old and new parameters match - temp and pH. You wouldn't want to shock the fish with a big change but if your tap and tank parameters are similar then it should be fine. However, if you're doing 50% infrequently then I'd advise against that. Smaller, more regular water changes are better than big, infrequent changes.

I usually do 50% every week my neon tetras are fine with it, but I'll cut down to 25%. Just easy for me to get carried away with cleaning the gravel. Thank you

Doing 50% a week isn't unheard of, and the fish probably appreciate it, so whatever you're comfortable with as long as parameters are good.

My tap water's pH and GH are very different than what's in my tanks so my fish would probably feel it if I changed so much. I still have to do it on occasion but try to avoid it.

Re your snail question, do think there's a calcium deficiency or are you just being proactive? If you have soft water and/or see signs of shell issues there are ways to increase it like snail jello, AKA "snello".

Ahh I see what you mean. Thinking that could be a reason my new betta didn't survive the night after a wc. Petrified to try that again

As for the snails. Little bit of both. My zebra nerite looks the same as when i first got him but my red racer looks a little bleached. Doesn't stop them from laying eggs everywhere though!

Such pretty snails!!

There are some great snello recipes in the forum if you want to do a search. I haven't made any myself so I can't recommend a particular one.
