Seachem Purigen review

Well I figure I'll put this review up on purigen since there's lots of questions going around about it and how it works. I've been using this stuff now in my filters for 7 months and it does an excellent job of clearing my water. It also does an amazing job of pulling out tannins in water that driftwood will Leach out. It will not pull meds out of water or fertilizers if your running it in a planted aquarium. And it's rechargeable so you don't have to keep buying it.I think it's the best stuff out now in my opinion. It's a synthetic product I believe and it has had no adverse effect on my fish whatsoever. I've also been told it's good for reducing nitrates. Here's a few shots of my tank lengthwise so you can see for yourself. It's a 125g so it's 6 feet long. As we all know when you look at your tank lengthwise the water will have a cloudy appearance to it. So check not the pics and judge for yourselves.

Did you notice it reduce nitrates? I been thinking about getting some Purigen for one of my non-planted tanks, the one with Victorian Haps.

My nitrates stay at almost 0. But I have a friend who was having an issue with his being 20 or so. He started using purigen after reading about it and it but his readings in half.

Wow that's neat! Probably does a better job than DeNitrate then. Gonna have to get me some haha.

I know a lot of people who love purigen. But I have 6, 8, and 10 foot tanks that stay crystal clear without it. Even looking at them length wise. So if yours looks cloudy, more filtration or even filter floss can take care of it.

Just finished my first 30 days of Purigen. It polished the water very well. It did nothing for nitrates. I ran 200ml in a 65g.
My plants did grow during this time, new sprouts and leaves, again only 30 days of use so I can't say what the long term effects on plants will be.

Thanks for the review. I'm thinking of getting some Purigen for one of my tanks. I like how you can recharge it and don't have to keep buying it.

Yep, one of the reasons I bought mine, and plus it helps reduce nitrates.
