I've been growing plants for about 4 months and having mixed results.
Root tabs help most of them grow, but all my plants in both tanks and constantly brown with algae and many of them struggle with melting and/or crack & holes.
Based on my research I'm learning that I need to use micro & macro ferts to solve the problem.
Is that correct?
If yes, which products would you recommend I go with (as a beginner on a tight budget)?

20g
Beamswork DA
BDBS w/ Root Tabs
Green Cabomba, Amazon Sword, Java Fern/Moss, Wisteria, Frogbit, Sprite
No Co2

25g
Beamswork EA
BDBS w/ Root Tabs
Green Cabomba, Hornwort, Dwarf Sag, Amazon Swords, Java Fern/Moss, Pennywort
No Co2

I am a fan of SeaChem products.
I can post photos of our plants and the products I use if you like.

How long are you leaving your lights on? I used to have quite a bit of brown algae, I then reduced the amount of time I left the lights on and the algae went away (well the snails ate it )

4 hours in morning, 4 hours in evening. Which snails do you use? I hadn’t thought of using snails to help with algae

I believe Ei is better as long as you keep up with water changes and its much cheaper.
Is the $15 package all I need?

I have loads of different types of snails in my 15g- Bladder snails, MTS, Ramshorn, Mystery snail and Spixi snails. The bladder snails are really good at eating the algae but I know they aren't everyone's cup of tea. If you would rather not have an aquarium over-run by snails, I believe nerites are excellent algae eaters.
