Seachem prime use with these other products?

Hi, I’m doing a fish in cycle with a betta. Before I got him I put tetra aquasafe in to dechlorinate the water and then let that sit until he got here about a day and a half later. When I put him in I put the tetra safestart. Should I also start using seachem prime with him in there given I’ve already used those things or no? Thank you!

also my tank is a 5 gallon and only has the one betta. My tank is at 78 degrees and as of right now I have 0ppm of ammonia. Today will be my second day with him here. Also, if my ammonia does rise would using seachem stability be a good idea? I know you’re not suppose to do water changes for the first 14 days of safestart, so would using the stability help with that if that happens?

I always use Fritz TurboStart, prime is my go to dechlorinator. If your tank is able to make nitrates you can change water. I would maybe even add some live plants from petsmart or petco. My favorite is Anubias, easy plant to on driftwood or rocks and bettas love the big leaves!

I would get an API liquid test kit to keep an eye on all parameters ammonia nitrites nitrates and PH. Your doing a fish-in cycle so you'll wanna keep your ammonia and nitrites as low as possible.

Thanks for the reply!! The help is really appreciated I’m new to this but I’m trying to learn it. I already have my fish in and all my decorations in, should I add prime or anything else to the tank right now or just leave the safestart alone? I do want to

I do have the API liquid kit, that’s what I used to test the ammonia earlier. I’ve tested once a day since I’ve got him.

That’s awesome to hear you’ve done your research! If you’ve added a dechlorinator there’s no need for prime. I use prime every water change and I’ve never had an issue.

Whoops sorry I sent the reply too soon but I was just gonna say I do want to get an anubias after I make sure the waters good!!

Thanks so much!! Also sorry for the half sentence on my last reply lol, I sent it too soon but I was just gonna say I do wanna get an anubias but I’m just gonna make sure my waters sorted out first
Anubias will actually help with your water! I say the sooner the better! Since they don’t feed through there roots they’ll assist you in keeping your chemicals low. This is my preferred method of cycling

Oh really? That’s really cool! I didn’t mean to send those two messages my phones wigging out haha, but I’m going to PetSmart tomorrow so I’ll maybe pick up an anubias when I’m there! I just have gravel, will that be ok or will I need soil of some sort?

I would attach it to some rocks or a decoration, they even sell little driftwoods near the plants! I use gel gorilla glue, only a drop will do.

Of course! This is what the forum is for, post again if you have questions! Anubias quickly became one of my favorite plants! Give them a quick google at petsmart to see how each of them grow. FrazerI grows tall while Nana grows short, best of luck!

HaylI , although Tetra says not to do water changes for so many days after using, I would still advise to perform WC's when your ammonia hits 1ppm.

You don't want the Betta swimming around as Ammonia builds up.

The beneficial bacteria colonizes in the substrate and in the filter media, not in the water column. So in my opinion, early water changes will not hinder whatever bacteria from the TSS is in the tank.

Do you have any TSS left in the bottle ?

Ok cool, I will do that! And yes I have a lot. I only have a 5 gallon and just used the amount it said for that. Should I add more now?

I have a female betta in my 40 gallon community tank. She likes to rest in the crown of the water wisteria. It would need occasional trimming, but it might be a good choice in one end of a 5 gallon tank.

I meant to say something yesterday, if you ever have the time I would suggest checking out Aquarium Co-Op. he’s an awesome YouTuber/Store owner and he’s got a really good podcast on betta and how to keep them happy and healthy . Check it out if you have the time

Ok cool, I’ll definitely check it out! My parameters are 0ppm ammonia, 0ppm nitrites, somewhere in between 0-5.0ppm of nitrate, and my ph is about 7.6-7.8
