Hello all and Happy New Year!!!
I am looking to upgrade the substrate in my 10G column tank. It has been on my mind for a while since it is the only piece missing. I have all live plants and would like to add more but the plants keep rising out of the gravel. Currently, my plants consist of amazon swords, anubias barteri attached to driftwood, rotala indica, bacopa caroliniana, weeping moss and litorella uniflora.
What I plan to do is apply Seachem Flourite Black on top of the gravel for a couple of reasons. 1. to keep the slope for my scape so I don't have to buy too much and 2. to keep the BB in the tank. I guess as far as the plants go while being fed through the water column and root tabs, the plants would be held down by the Flourite black and then have more than enough room for the root to go down and grab onto the gravel below.
Is this a good thing to do or should I just bite the bullet and do all Flourite black?
Here is a pic of my current tank.
