Scored some free/rescue fish!

A few days ago I was browsing an online Buy/Swap/Sell/Trade etc group in my local area, and saw a bloke offering all the fish in his 6 foot tank + live plants for FREE. He was very vague about the size/number etc, but he did state that if no-one took them he would have to FLUSH THEM ALL!

So I whipped the 20minute journey out there with my net and some buckets/containers and tracked him down.

Turns out all he had in the 6 foot was a pair of mollies and 3 of their fry (1/2 inchers), as well as 2 x big khulI loaches, 1 x fully grown bronze cory and 1 x 4 inch clown loach.

I am aware that the Khuli, Cory AND Clown all need bigger schools but I just couldn't let them get flushed! Will they be ok for a while in my 4ft tank? I bought a whole bunch of new plants to make them feel more secure.

The cory, clown, my RTS and both my BN plecos are all chilling in a group all the time. Some sort of motley crew!

 

Wow, that guy was about to flush, like, 30 dollars worth of fish. Good thing you saved them, if they got flushed that would be a waste. I've never had kuhlI loaches or clown loaches but I know cories can be flexible on the numbers you need. Some are happy by themselves, and some will be very boring to watch without some buddies. It comes down to the personality of the individual fish.

 

The clown loach needs a group of at least 5 and a 125 gallon tank.

The kuhlI loach needs a group of at least 5, but does much better if you have a much larger group. I have over a dozen.

The cory should have at least 4 buddies, same species.

Thanks guys. Am working on stocking up the schools and/or restockinh. I would have loved to IF I could transport a 6footer home! They are selling it anyway. Hopefully to someone wiser with fofesighr!
