what's your favourite korean food you had while in jeju/korea (or just in general). also, show me a picture of your cat (question mark)
I don’t recall anything I ate there, except freshly-shucked abalone (I think) immediately after they were caught. My favorite Korean food is Korean bbq or maybe bimbI'm bop.

And certainly, lol:

What's your favorite dinosaur?
Indominus rex, hands down. I know it’s made-up, but all the real ones are lame now. Thanks you Jurassic World. Alright, alright, I suppose the Spinosaurus. I find it both aesthetically pleasing and proportionally correct and efficient to be an apex predator, unlike the T-rex, lol.

It is pretty cool-looking, I must say. In ARK: Survival Evolved (dinosaur survival game) I favor the Spino over the Rex as it has more utility, but the Rex is definitely a go-to if I need power. I even got emotionally attached to a Spino I had, named it Pavoros. Unfortunately he got killed by a flock of Dimorphodons (seagull-sized flying dino).

There was definitely a lot of controversy that sparked after the T-Rex vs. Spinosaurus scene in the movies. While the Spinosaurus would be much cooler, it had a pretty weak jaw structure compared to similar cousins and descendants. Personally I think the Rex should have won that fight with its insane bite power. Regardless, that scene is super hyped!

I can’t say I go out of my way to watch his films, but he does have a lot of talent. He’s not a one trick pony like George Lucas . I probably shouldn’t say that. I love Star Wars. Anyway, some of my favorite Tarantino works are Reservoir Dogs, The Hateful Eight, Django, and Kill Bill. Unfortunately I can’t say Inglorious is on my list. I’m not sure why, but I thought it was a decent movie. I’m more David Lynch, but his latest work, Twin Peaks: The Return, made me mad.

Bahahahahahahaha... asking for it, you are! (In my best Yoda voice.) I too would put The Hateful Eight, Django, (oh my gosh, I looove Walton Goggins in a Tarantino film!) & Kill Bill over Inglorious. Hubs did a pretty good imitation of Pitt in that movie just last night, so when you mentioned well-placed humor, that was what came to mind. I do love Inglorious though and about lost it when Mike Myers appeared.

Having caught up on your's and midna's threads this morning, my favorite docu-film came to mind, so I have more questions. Are you a fan of rock n roll Scarface? Old rock, new rock, grunge? Have you seen Dave Grohl's Sound City??? Everybody should see that!

I just listen to whatever’s on, be it rock, jazz, or hip hop. You mentioned Billy Joel in this thread I recall, and I didn’t really know who he was. But I like his music. I just didn’t reallize I was listening to him on occasion I get it I’m like from another universe or someting, lol.

AJE Yes I do. I like catching fish, I like eating fish, and I like keeping fish. And sometimes I even dream about fish.

Wow, abalone portidge sounds delicious. Porridge is actually one of my favorite meals.

It’s just one cat. She was adopted in 2012, so I guess she’s around 6 yrs. old, closer to 7. Her name is Chicken. Hey, I didn’t name her. My brother did.

I can appreciate your taste, as it shows appreciation of music for what it is rather than being picky about it. Having said that, sorry, but I believe you are from another universe. What kinda New Yorker doesn't know Billy Joel and The Lords of 52nd St.?!?!?? Bahahaha! I can't claim to be much of a New Yorker, but I did wannabe for much of my young life, and Billy was certainly an influence on that.

I do swear I've got a little New York in me though. If you ever find yourself on or near Ramsey Ave. in Yonkers, you'll be in my old neighborhood. There was a delI nearby, (isn't there always... it may have been Langes, but this was way back around 1988), and I used to beg to go. I have clear memories of this giant roll of cruddy candy I called Dots. Little pastel-colored sugar dots on a roll of paper, and in my mind, if that role were unspooled, it would be a mile long.

The last time I was in Yonkers was when I was 17.. and I had a weird fascination with Oakland Cemetery, where there are some very old graves. I'm a quitter now, but then I used to take walks to the cemetery as an excuse to smoke nasty cigarettes along the way,:yuck: far from the eyes of my elders. Lol, and there's my proof of being a little bit of a New Yorker myself.

So Scarface, if you were from another universe, be it factual or fictional, which one would it be?? Also, since we're getting spacey here, have you visited the American Museum of Natural History, and if so, how about the Hayden Planetarium? Have you ever had the pleasure of seeing my favorite astrophysicist, Neil deGrasse Tyson, or the one and only Bill Nye? I'm having deja vu. Have I asked/told you all of this before? If so, please forgive what I think of as mommy memory. I swear, since these kiddos came along I can remember everything in their lives and forget too much of my own.

Cute! Bahahahahaha... this reminds me of a friend I had while living in a small town in the mountains of western NC. He was a bit of a mountain man, he was also Mexican, and a red-neck. He was married into the best friend's family, so I saw quite a bit of this guy during my 5 years there. Never learned his real name because he wouldn't share it. He was known to all as Chicken and even his own family called him Pollo.

there's a cute little juk restaurant i've been to that has great juk. I haven't been there in a long time though. the drive is kinda far T_T

I adopted my cat in 2012 too!!!! the shelter said she was around 3 or 4, but the vet said she's more like 8. so she's getting pretty old now. chicken is a super cute name! my cat's name is cupcake haha

I just started the haunting of hill house, btw. I like it so far. couldn't really get into sabrina, sadly. the acting and the script was putting me off :/ I stopped halfway through episode 3. I'll probably try to pick it back up again after i'm finished with hill house (if I finish it lol, I keep dropping shows).

are there any upcoming shows you want to watch?

I listen to whatever's on the radio, so usually the "80s, 90s, and today" . Sadly, as broad as it sounds, it seems to me the stations really only play a handful of the same oldies, over and over again. I'm definitely out of touch with reality, and it's not just music. I can be quite aloof, truth be told. I suppose you're right. I'm not a true New Yorker, because I don't know where Yonkers is ops: I'll look it up. I think you might be a better New Yorker than I ever will be. Perhaps you should show me around sometime.

As far as universes, being a sellsword sounds like fun. Really. Some men dream about being James Bond. I just want to be a random sellsword. Or a pirate, so I can explore lands beyond Westeros and Essos. Yes, I'm pining for adventure, even if that means I die an abrupt and meaningless death in George R. R. Martin's cruel, cruel world. Of course, it's only a fantasy. No way do I have a desire to swing a sword at anyone in real life or having one swung at me In a less violent universe, I think living in Hyrule would be nice. I imagine it being like New Zealand, except with magic and monsters. I guess I like magic and Medieval stuff. Elves are cool too. They'd probably look down on us with disapproval, though, lol. Regardless, I do wish there were more magic and mystery to life.

It's funny you mention the Natural History Museum. I was actually thinking of going there, mainly because of an article I read in the new issue of Amazonas, a fishkeeping magazine. It showed photos of preserved killifish specimens which came from the museum. That made me think about going there to see if it has a section for fishes. If you're saying Bill Nye is sometimes there to speak, then I'll have to check it out sooner rather than later: loved watching him as a kid.

Thank you. I thought it was a weird name, but I got used to it. Her name used to be Tigger at the ASPA, but my brother immediately changed it. She likes it and responds to it.

To be preferred to be called a chicken than by his actual name, he must really hate it, lol.
What’s a good piece of advice you would give to anyone about life?

If you could only do one thing for the rest of your life - what would it be?
Walk away! That's it, really. I got it from someone I barely even knew, but it was good advice. Apply it to whatever situation, I guess. And save as much as you can for retirement, the earlier the better.

Watch lots of TV We are in the Golden Age of entertainment, specifically shows. If you're talking about career, then I don't know. I hate working period. But as my pastor, who also happened to be the school principal, once told me after he called me into his office, asking why I refused to do any of my homework in which I replied, "I didn't feel like it," he said this: "There are a lot of things I don't want to do either, but I have to bla-bla-bla." But it sort of stuck with me as a insolent, bratty kid. So there's another life advice, I suppose, although rather obvious.

I'll drive the distance for good food, with stops for coffee. Ok, maybe no more than 2 hours roundtrip. I'm jelly you had abalone juk or even a place that specializes in it. My current addiction is ThaI food. I'm in love with pad Thai.

My brother got her when she was a kitten, and was actually named Tigger at the ASPCA. He liked her because she was tiny and all the other cats seemed terrified of her. In the playroom, she refused to acknowledge his existence or dad's, when suddenly she flew onto his leg, climbing up it aggressively. He shook her off, but he liked her spunk, lol. I wish I was there to see it

That show is pretty good. I even got spooked in some parts. The characters were great too. I don't want to spoil anything. I agree about Sabrina. I went up to 6 episodes, even, but I just can't get into it. I feel like since I went this far, might as well finish it. I don't mind the acting, but it feels too young adult-ish, while shows like Stranger Things, although mainly involving kids still feels more mature, perhaps because it feels more real.

Well, it’s winter and since we were just talking about porridge (juk) then I’d pick that as my favorite warm, comfort food. That and chowder. Not the canned kind, but the real stuff, with nice meaty chuncks of fish and clams.

that's more than i'd drive!! koreatown is about 25-30 minutes away, but I gotta take the toll road :/ I do need to go there again sometime soon. soooo much good food. so many cafes and bakeries. ahhhh. and I LOVE thaI food. oh man, pad thai. I wanna try more thaI dishes but I always default to pad thaI (or tom kha gaI or just tom kha if i'm in a soup mood). thaI curry is always good too. I was on the hunt for really good pad thaI a while back because i've had some disappointing ones lol

oh that's so cute! why'd your brother dump her off on you? my cat amazingly sat in my lap when I was at the shelter. she hasn't done that since -_- false advertising. had to cheese up to me so i'd adopt her. she acts like a puppy, constantly meows, and has separation anxiety. she's imprinted on me but as much as I complain, I wouldn't have it any other way

you didn't answer my question, but that's fine because i'm sure it got lost among all the text. what shows are you looking forward to that are coming out soon? I check out the "coming soon to netflix" section on occasion.

Lol, pad ThaI is my default choice too. I’m embarrassed to admit that I don’t know the names of other ThaI dishes. I mean I’ve had them, but usually I look through the menu for 15 minutes and still end up picking chicken or seafood Pad Thai. Predictable. But there’s this coconut curry chicken dish that is awesome.

My brother joined the marines, and so left her with our parents to take care of, actually. I still see her quite a bit. But he hasn’t forgotten about her. He says he misses the cat more than us . Like. Every. Single. Time. He. Visits. Lol.

As for shows, I’m looking forward to season 3 of Westworld already! It’s such a good show. And of course Game of Thrones as well, but I’m not the biggest fan of the show. They made some very strange choices that differ from the books, which perplexes me. I feel like budget wouldn’t have been an issue. Oh well. I also like Legion. I’m not sire what shows that are returning soon, as of now.

I think this deserves an update. I can't believe I forgot about Nightflyers. It comes out in December on both Syfy and Netflix. I can't wait. I read the novella years ago and reread it again not too long ago, and so I'm very hyped. George R. R. Martin calls it "a haunted house story in space."
Another show I forgot which also airs on Syfy is Channel Zero. New season came out and finished and I didn't even realize it. Channel Zero is a horror anthology like American Horror Story, but without all the outlandish, bizzarre-acting characters and funky soundtrack. This show is actually kind of creepy. The latest season is called "Dream Door."

Yes, I do. They're much better than the Fluval Bug Bites, in my opinion. I purchased them from ProShrimp on ebay. It's based in the UK, but shipping is actually pretty cheap. I think it was $4 for a small package to be delivered. My LFS sells Dennerle's shrimp and snail foods as well as many other kinds of products. Hopefully, it starts to get fish food in stock as well.

I say cool all the time in my real life. I've yet to have someone say it's uncool to say cool, so you have nothing to worry about. Just don't say rad. That will turn some heads.

Dennerle is actually a German company. The store ProShrimp is based in the UK, though, which is where I bought the company's products from. I think they will ship to Hawaii. I'm sure some LFS in the US will have their products to sell online as well.

Yeah, it's just a matter of finding those sources and trying to cheat the shipping costs a bit lol

Love this! I have a favorite word but sometimes think I'm kinda strange that way. The word is... catalyst. So Scarface, what's yours? And, what are your favorite reading and/or media resources, (which in turn, must contribute to your witty banter)?
