Sbd: How Often And Long Epsom Salt Bath?

I have a harlequin rasbora that has SBD. He swims diagonally. First he waits for his buoyancy to drop him lower in the water, and then he swims up, diagonally, to get to maintain a constant swim level.

I have been giving him 30 minute Epsom salt baths once a day for about 5 days, and he hasn't improved. Should they be longer or more frequent?

Previously, I have tried this treatment before for 15 minutes once a day with my bettas, and they never made it. So, I think 30 minutes is a better length of time. However, even 30 minutes isn't fixing it.

The use of Epsom salt is for swim bladder issues caused by constipation. If your fish's swim bladder is damaged, epsom salt won't help. Epsom salt relaxes the organs of the fish to allow any blockage to be resolved and not to cure a damaged swim bladder. Are you sure this is SBD? Anything wrong with your params? Are you overfeeding?

Since the epsom salt isn't doing anything, I don't assume it is constipation. What are your water parameters?

SBD can be caused by many things. Mainly constipation and over feeding, but can also be caused by by a bacterial infection (dropsy), physical injury to the swim bladder, shock (pH or thermal shock), or enlargement of any organ. Can we get a picture?

here is a video of him. he is the one that is swimming diagonally. The poor guy has a difficult time. He didn't swim like this until about a week or so after I moved all my fish to this 40 gallon.
