Saw my first Detritus Worm!

Saw Raz (betta) intently studying a spot on the wall and nipping at it occasionally. Leaned in for a closer look and saw what I thought was a little white hair. Then it moved! He managed to gobble it up in the end but do I need to worry about this thing? I searched around here and discovered it's probably a Detritus Worm. Pretty sure I have it because of all the plant die-off I've been experiencing while trying to find things that will grow in this high-flow tank. Should I just do a major vacuum and water change to get rid of the food sources?

Detritus worms are in every tank, just under the substrate. If you saw it above the substrate then it means you are over feeding....

I was recently messing around with plants and things, is it possible I just stirred it up and it happened to get sucked towards the filter? It was the perforated wall that divides the tank from the filter where I saw it.

Whew...I'll be a little more careful with how much I'm feeding though. Raz is a bit of a pig

Definitely nothing to worry about. As mentioned every tank has them they're just largely unnoticed.

So are they actually kinda good for a tank because they eat the leftovers, or at least a good sign that your tank is healthy?
