A boring post but we finally have a lovely hot sunny day here in the UK and i've to be in work in half an hour!!!

MWWWAAAAAAAAAAA!!!! ( tantrum) IT'S NOT FAIR!!!!!!!!

I thought 30 mins interval training on my exercise bike might wake me up which it did but now i'm hot, feeling good and could just curl up and chat rubbish to my babies. HOWEVER bedpans, vomit bowls, blood, guts, gore and wards with NO air con beckon!!!

HEEELLLLPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :;br

How can you work in a hospital with no AC? That makes no sense at all... (Ok, I'm presuming, with the description you gave, that you work in a hospital. I suppose it's also possible that you work in a gladiator arena )

Well I wanted to open my own bookstore and I had all these great ideas, but I've researched the market and it would really be financial suicide to open one in our area, no matter how much time and energy and originality you put in.

I am getting really fed up with my job as I am not taking that much out of it anymore. I am an IT consultant, which means that I help the customer use our software in the best way possible. Each project lasts about a year, during which I have to be with my customer at least 3 to 4 days a week, no matter where they are in the world...

All this travelling for 5 years is starting to feel like too much and I want something to call my own now. It's time to move on. Only I dont' know what. You never know, in 6 months' time, I could be doing exactly the same thing for another employer...

Oh, and I think that your idea to start as an employee and learn the ropes is TOTALLY realistic. I think you can totally do it.

Thanks, Callum. I think you're right! I've been hiding behind the conventional job track for very long, and it's time to pursue my dream and leave my trace in this world! Only don't know what in...

Look...I work in a small nursing home in Oklahoma and we don't have AC most of the time. I do all the baths in a small steamy room and I have heat related Asama...my doctor bill to terrible. We had a cook fall out yesterday and the maintenance man will not fix the AC. The state inspectors were called in and will be here today...I HOPE...I may lose my job...BUT...I'm not laing for anyone about these work problems.......... ...love fishlore and love my poor fish.

I too have worked a nursing home..... wash, dress, feed, make beds, do laundry, put laundry away, make sure rooms ok for relatives to see, change pads, cook food when chef off, wash dishes when kitchen staff off............................and ensure residents happy and entertained then paper work.

I LOVED the residents VERY VERY much and felt so guilty for leaving BUT The job was TOO much. Little time off and 100% miles an hour when in. A VERY poorly understood/underpaid job.......I could rant for hours about this but I have just remembered it is fishlore!!!! Sorry!!

It's just that I get cold feet with the whole financial security aspect of things, but I still think that Bill Gates, etc. ALL started with a vision, and they didn't let other people tell them it was unrealistic, etc.

But seriously, jobs=money=happiness/fish. I definitely spent about a week's worth of salary tonight getting stuff for my 10gal for school. Nice. Well worth it, can't wait to get it set up.

The BIG question is , IF you don't like your jobs, have you an interest that consumes you that could be turned into a profit?

I would encourage anyone who is thinking along these lines to #1 start every day doing 30 min to an hour of "personal development", this might be in any one of four categories, preferably all four. Spiritual, Mental, Physical, and emotional. You need all four to be able to take the next step, and it is a big one. Once you have identified what you want to do, you have to step out in faith, be sharp and built up with positave outlook, and self , I was talking with a young man a few weeks back who wanted to start a building development in the Seattle area, he had been doing all these steps, and had the idea in mind, just needed the money to start. He went to 32 banks, all turned him down till the last one (I am sure because of his positave outlook he would have gone to 50 if it had taken that much), the last bank gave him the money to get started, now he is through the groundwork, septics, wells, foundations, and has a start on his subdivision. I can see in just a few years this young man will sell all this, and have a million $ in his bank account. He was the first to admit that at 20 he was not emotionally ready to step out in faith and do it, and it took many years of development. The difference between a Bill Gates and this is that Bill Gates learned these lessons early.

In my opinion there are several young people on here like Callum and ATM who are learning these things early and will be the next generation of entrepreneurs!
Some reading for you. The BIBLE, RICH DAD POOR DAD and the Business School (For People Who Like Helping People) by Robert Kiyosake, Think and Grow Rich Napoleon Hill,The next Trillion Paul Zane Pilzer, The Magic of Thinking BIG David J. Schwartz, these are just a few.
Start every day with these, and a 15 min minimum physical workout. Eat right to maintain a good self and energy.

I like how you put it. Sure clarifies the broad lines in our career decisions. In fact, just copy/pasted it in my enterpreneur folder. That's how I take initiative: I classify! I think I've found my dream job: librarian.

And I totally agree about Callum. He kinda inspired me to not entirely give up on my latest enterpreneurial idea. I'll come sue him when I go bankrupt! ;D

Well, this is kind of my first setup that I'm doing by myself, so yes, major buzz. Before it was just the parentals getting the whole boxed sets, whereas this time I got to pick out the lighting, filter, decorations and whatnot, and I had a BLAST doing it.

Yea, and the cool thing is each new tank you setup will do that.

Well... Hopefully I won't be setting one up for a while. Okay, NOT hopefully, because I really wish I could, but the practicality of it... Not so much. This has been kind of like the nicotene patch to my case of MTS. Temporary fix...
