Your replies helped a lot...thank you! I have been checking craiglist and contacting sellers from craigslist but am finding it near impossible to get any replies. The deals on craiglist haven't actually been all that great as most tanks are in bad shape and are for saltwater. Still looking though!

Have you tried ksl? You could also see if your lfs has any cheap, used tanks. I bet if you explain your situation they'd try to help. If all else fails, id get either a stock pond, some horse watering barrel/tub or something of that sort and go with that. It would probably be better than a tank in the longer run. As long as a filter-and heater if needed for temperature-are in the tank/tub of water you should be okay!
