Sand Subtrate with Goldfish?

I was just wondering if it is okay to use a sand subtrate with goldfish. the goldfish have been in a tank with stone for about 2 years now so they are used to that, but I wanted to make the tank a little prettier looking rather than having the colored stone in the bottom. I heard that some fish eat the sand accidentally when they eat their food, and the sand collects in their stomache causing them harm. is this true with goldfish?

Goldfish LOVE sand. Just about all fish do.

As far as sand being dangerous because of ingestion, SUPPOSEDLY bettas are at risk for that. I keep my bettas with sand though....hasn't been a problem yet.

I highly recommend pool filter sand.

If you have any questions making the switch, ask away!

Make sure you clean the sand lots of times! The key to clean sand is in the STIRRING! So STIR A LOT! All fish love sand so I don't see the sand being a problem.
