Hi, fish forum I'm going to start a new tank which will be a Aqueon 40 breeder I don't know what I'm going to stock in it yet I'm just getting everything I need for it to be successful.

1. How many 20/30lbs of white sand will it take to make a nice layer in a 40 breeder?

2. What size fluval canister filter would be great for filtration I have a 207 series from fluval so that's not big enough?

3. Can I find those white polystyrene egg crates for to put in the bottom of my tank to support rocks from the glass?

4. I'm having a hard time finding the correct size glass verse top for it where can I look to that place that will have it.

Thank you all answers will be highly grateful and thankful....

You could use the 207 and add an AC50 that should give you some good filtration. I believe 1 pound per gallon is usually the rule. If you get a 50# bag of pool filter sand ($10) it should give you a nice layer and if you need more a second bag would be cheap enough. Sorry can't help with the eggcr ate rock supports.

Thank you I found the egg crate rock support just hope they have some when I go there. So I can use the 207 ok and I do have a aqua clear 50 a friend gave me forgot about it and pulled it out today had it packed away.

I’d go with the 406.
I was thinking of that was looking at it them Amazon. But I think I have a setup that'll work just fine.

Is there a certain kind of pools and I should get when I go purchase it? I've seen on YouTube about getting heavy sand that won't suck up easy in your filter and can be gravel vacuum lightly and not be sucked out into your sink?

I found a top for the 40 breeder at Dr. Foster and Smith. Not an easy top to find. I also run two AC 70's on mine. Found the 110 to have way too much current in the tank.
