    Good Morning Fish Friends,

I was wondering if it was safe to use anti-fungal medications and salt with Ottos. My Ottos are not sick, but I have a suspected fungal infection going on in my tank and was wondering if ottos are too sensitive to medications.

It really depends on the med. I would not use salt with Otos. Most are still wild caught and catfish species are sensitive to salt.

Good to know. Thanks Dena. What anti-fungal meds would be useable?

It really depends on the disease. Sorry to be so vague.

As a first line of defense, I feed my fish freshly minced garlic once a week. Freshly minced garlic has anti-bacterial and anti-parasitic properties and help to bolster the immune system. Fish go nuts over garlic soaked foods; and the larger fish like to eat the garlic pieces.

Others will have a different approach to keep fish healthy. I am a firm believer in offering a variety of foods that include fresh fruits and vegys. Maybe someone else will come along to post their approach to fish health.
