Safe To Paint Led Exterior?

I am considering getting a Chihiros A-series light, but its shiny exterior doesn't match the black of all my other LEDs and it bothers me. Does anyone know whether it would be safe to paint the exterior of the light strip portion to be matte black, and if so, if any particular paint types would be safer than others? I was considering using either spray paint like Krylon Automotive or a standard brush-on black acrylic, and of course I'd give it at least a few weeks to fully cure before putting the light on the tank so off-gassing can't possibly affect the fish, though I do use full-covering glass hoods.

Acrylic paint is pretty inert once it dries. I'm not sure about auto paint.

I'll try the acrylic paint then and see how it goes. Thanks!

You should be able to remove it if you don't like the results. It bonds with porous materials like paper and canvas. But it should wash off plastic or metal.

That makes sense. I'll keep that in mind for in case I mess up.
