Running Canister Filter with No Carbon

Hey guys I'm running a canister filter.. I have my pads bioballs and some carbon .. heard I could run it with no carbon is that right tho? What r the effects??

yes you can run it with out the carbon. You can actually use the space for the carbon and add more biological filtration. I haven't used carbon in over a year in my tanks and I have had absolutely no problems. I actually can't even remember what carbon was used for to be honest.

I never bother with carbon in my canisters or HOBs.

Carbon isn't necessary. It's uses are that it can remove medication from water and other things like iron and........ other heavy metals...... It's not necessary.....

I believe it also removes tannins, which is nice if you have driftwood but want perfectly clear water. And it is the best solution if your tank develops a foul odor.
