Rummynoses dying for no apparent reason

MrBunga

I recently purchased 12 rummynose tetras from Petco. 2 of them have died already in 2 days. The other 10 seem to be doing fine, they're eating, colored up, and swimming around actively. My water parameters are 0 ppm nitrates, 0 ppm nitrites, 0 ppm ammonia, GH 140 ppm, KH 60 ppm, PH 6.9.
I have a 55 gallon tank with 10 Rosy Barbs and 5 Pearl Gouramis.

Petitella have a tendency towards early losses. Nothing unusual. Have you done quarantine?

MrBunga

No, I have not done any quarantining. How do I tell the difference between a true Rummynose and a Petitella?

MacZ

All three rummynose species are in the genus Petitella nowerdays. And I've already forgotten which one is called true or false. To me there is no true or false rummynose, as we don't make that distinction in my language nor in the scientific community. I simply distinguish between P. georgiae, P. bleheri and P. rhodostomus.
