so I just picked up a royal pleco for my 65. I know it will outgrow the tank and in 5-10 years I will sell him. But he’s currantly less than 1 inch so I have a lot of time to watch him grow. What is your guys suggesting food schedule for plecos? And I know I have this amount of time because their growth rate is slower 1-2 inches per year.

Hello Jacob
Your Royal will need driftwood to naw on. No need for special feeding, like algae wafers. My Plecos tear up Omega One small grain sinking Cichlid pellets or the Omega One Super Veggie Kelp sinking pellets. If your Royal is the Dull Eye Royal variety it probably won't outgrow your tank.

Yeah I have a massive 2’ by 1’ price of drift wood. Fills up half of the tnak and has many hiding places. Will they like algae wafer? I’m already feeding the severum a little bit of algae wafers to get some vegetable matter in his diet. And it’s good to know he’ll eat the NLS like my feather-finned. Thank you very much.

Once acclimated, If the Royal can get to an algae wafer first, he will likely knock off any other fish that gets close to it. Lol.

Then I’ll break them in half and put them on opposite ends of the tank and see if that works.
