okay, recently, i found half a dozen large rocks out in the bush. I have been socking them for three days now, and they seem pretty dirt free, but, some of them look like they are extracting clay, or something. If i rub them with another rock, or my hands they start to get muddy/clayish. I want to put them in my tank, but, could they be bad for my fish?

If you have given them a good scrub & there is still rubbish coming off them, I would probably give them a miss. The last thing you want is a rapidly dissolving rock fouling up your aquarium water. If you havn't done it already, give them a good scrub with a nylon brush & then a quick boil then scrub again. If the stuff is still coming off then I would definitley pass on them. You could break one apart & see exactly how soft it is. Being in VIC you are spoilt for places to go & get some rocks. I never ran short of aquarium decoration when I was living there but it does depend what part of the state you are in.
