HI all,

I currently have 9 minnows, 5 neon tetras and a mixture of 9 Shrimp in my Rio 125 tank.

Everyone seems happy enough. I was just wondering whether it would be feasible to add 4 more Neons to the tank, so I have 2 equal shoals? Or will this be pushing the tanks capacity?

Based on an Inch a Gallon rule , 18 X 1.5" = 27inch. I am on the max in Imperial Gallons (27)but not if I go off US Gallon (33).

Any thoughts would be great.
Thanks

Hello!

I think it should be fine; it's not that high if a bioload by adding 6 relatively small fish, and they sure would appreciate the extra friends to properly school.

And the 1in per gallon rule is a very outdated and misinforming "rule". You are fine completing your schools

Hope this helps and best of luck!

Thank you. That is good news. Love the Neon Tetras, add so much colour.
