Hi. So my sister was looking for a fish to take to college w her in a 5g. I promised her I'd ask ab a goldfish tho I think it would b too big for a 5 or if she did it would b a lot of maintenance. Is there a type of goldfish she could manage in a 5? How difficult would it be?

No goldfish would fit in a 5g. Goldfish need 40g+

Would your sister be interested in a betta, snail tank or maybe shrimp tank? The only goldfish that would be suitable for a five gallon would be a toy lol.

fancy goldfish need at least 40 gallons, common goldfish need basically a 200+ gallon pond.

Yep. Her options are Betta, Snails, Shrimp, Dwarf Puffer. But the Dwarf Puffer has to be housed alone as they eat snails. Or you could get a nice colony of pest snails for them to eat.

Haha ya I have been telling her Betta and Shrimp. I just wanted to double check. Promised her I would ask around

She could do a few (3 or 4) endlers, small group of scarlet badis. There's a few options in a 5.
