How long ago did you get into fishkeeping?

My first fishtank was when I was 19 it was 5ft and I made it with the help of a friend

What draws you to keeping shrimp as your passion?

I find there's more involvement needed to keep these alive and so interesting to watch

When did you get your first shrimp tank??

I'm into my 11th year with shrimp

 

Whats one shrimp you have never kept before?

What shrimp are you currently keeping?

 

I really would like to try the
Cardinal Sulawesi Shrimp.
I currently have
Red cherry,Crystal reds , Black bee,
Yellow Sakura, Super red crystal, Fishbone, Cross tiger black bee,
Cross tiger red crystal, Green cherry, Amano, African armoured then a cull tank with all sorts as I don't kill anything.
I also have two tanks waiting for Blue bolt and Pinto but unable to collect due to lock down

 

Do your shrimp prefer cucumber or broccoli(assuming you've fed them both before)?

What is your favorite number?

Have you tried feeding shrimp blanched fruit tree/plant leaves? (I tried and they didnt eat it but its meant to be good)

What have you done to your tanks since start of lockdown?

I've been sub aqua diving for 40 years
But only now if I have a chance to get to the tropics I don't dive British waters anymore,up until a year ago model flying and examining,
Yes I keep fish Oscars, Hoplow cats, severum, tank of mixed Peacocks.
Since the lock down I've reorganised myself to do water changes daily for 5 days which makes it easier, 1 day for doing ro water which takes 2hrs and filter servicing if needed,and a day doing nothing or making shrimp food, my life now evolves around my tanks which I love.

What was the biggest mistake you have ever made keeping shrimp

Favorite plant?

There are loads of fruit tree leaves as well as non fruit and i harvest in winter dry them for direct feed and grind them to a powder mixed with nettle kale spinach mulberry and anything else I have available and make pellets, I've only done this part for two years and the shrimp seem to do well and its a lot cheaper but I still have a supply of food from Norway,
Put your dried leaf in the tank and leave it, it won't get touched until the biofilm as got to it and the leaf starts to degrade then the shrimp will eat it,
Biggest mistake
Not introducing new blood to my first ever crystal reds with the result they got whats called Traits Depression this is where the lovely white colour you once had gets a horrible blackish tint to it, it ruined the whole strain

 

What’s your favorite kind of shrimp to keep? I’m really drawn to the crystal reds so I’d like to know what you think of them.

 

Sorry random question but do you like green, red or yellow apples?

 

I've always classed crystal reds as one of my best especially when you've got pure white and solid red, the past 12 months I've started breeding super red crystal which are as impressive
