I was wondering if anyone here kept this species?
Are they really regarded as peaceful barbs like the Cherry variety, albeit a little bigger (6cm)?
Do they munch on algae as I have read on the interweb?
I've never kept them but have always admired them. I believe they are peaceful types and stunning. I'm just not a barb fan...I stick to SA fish all my favorites. Barbs are omniverous so will snack on lots of different foods. As they get larger they will probably be nippy to other smaller fish...but not killers.
Just come across Sawbwa Barb at a UK website supplier, another not so common Barb. Its amazing how evolution can produce such similar looking creatures that are not directly related... No wonder these are also known as Asian Rummynose!
