Reverse Osmosis?

    I buy salt water from the store.
    Do I have to use RO water though.
    Because RO kit costs a lot [what doesn't in the reef keep hobby]

    Do you mean for top off water? If so maybe you can ask the place where you buy your premixed salt water if you can have a few gallons of unmixed RODI? If not I think the next best thing would be to use distilled water (I am no expert but this makes sense to me as it would have no minerals, etc added).

    I buy RO and mix my own salt water its cheap to buy the ro water and i get to use my trusted salt of choice. Obviously you top the tank up with RO water when it evaporates i use a marker on the tank so i know when to top up, i also check the salinity regularly. 34d9b429678d2946d59a314ab742ae5a.jpg i have a small container of RO for top off and a larger one of SW i have pre-mixed ready for changes.
