Do varying species of hatchets school together?

I have 3 silvers and 2 marbles. Will they school together? Because for the most part they stay away from each other. Do you think they eventually will?

No, they won't. They're different species and won't school. You also won't see the same behaviors as you would if they were in a school of their own species. I'd rehome one of the species and get more of the other.

So as some of you know, I had a 20 gallon tank with 5 hatchets (2 marbles, 3 Silvers) and 2 silvers and 1 marble have since died.now that I only have 2 hatchets, I know this is u healthy for them. Should I return them to the store, or add on the make the school bigger again?

Is it a 20 long or high? If it's s 20H I'd return them all, if it is a long I'd return one kind and get at least 6 of the kind you keep. I prefer the marbled and I think the stay smaller.

Will a hatchetfish die alone?

So, of the 5 hatchetfish I started with, only 1 is left ( I returned 2 and 2 died.) but the problem is not only is this one a present from my cousin, but this one was bought at a store over an hour away. I'm going to try to get more hatchetfish, but for now, will my marble hatchetfish be able to live by itself, and if not, how long will it live for?

If you like the fish keep them. They probably won't school together but will do ok as singles. Once they get used to their tank food will be their main concern. They can jump out of the smallest opening so tank needs full cover.

What To Do! poor Hatchetfsh!

I This has been my tank population of the past 2 months
1. A Female Golden Wonder Killifish
2. A Juvinile Female Veiltail Betta
3. A Female Balloon Molly
4. A Male Rubber Lip Plecostumous
5. 3 Male Platys
6. 3 Ghost Shrimp
7. 3 Silver Hatchetfish
8. 2 Marbles Hatchetfish

Since then All these fish are alive, except the hatchetfish. Since then they wiped out. I only have 1 marble hatchets left and the silvers are totally gone. This marble is all alone. He didn't swim around except when scared.

What at should I do? I can't return it because the store is an 1:30 away aaannnnddd I got him as a present and I'd feel guilty to tell him I returned it. Also, I'm not going to kill it because I'm not that type of person. And Last, I Couldn't get more fish for at least 2 weeks, probably not for a month or 2.

Will the hatchetfish live alone (temporarily 1-3 months) and not die? Or will he die soon?! Can someone inform me on this?

Pleasw dint ask ask for water parameters because you know you don't have to know them, but I'll post them anyways;
Ammonia: 0
Nirtite:0
Nitrate: 10
PH: 6.8
Temp- 74 F

Do you know why the other hatchetfish died?

What do you mean we don't need water parameters? The number one reason for beginner keepers losing stock are bad parameters.

sorry if that sounded rude..

I mean I'm only asking how long to hatchetfish live alone, not anything that would need my specific water perameters

How long were the hatchet fish in the tank? Maybe they were bad stock?

Also, you should probably stick to one thread. You'll get much better responses and you won't have to repeat yourself so much.

It should be fine for a while, but it would do better probably if there was at least one more in there. I have had hatchet fish for a little over a year and had one die too. Sometimes you get bad stock.

Please do not continue to make multiple threads for the same question.

It makes it confusing for you and the other members to jump between threads.

It's best to have all of the information in one threads.

Thanks!
