So my 55 gallon I guess is getting to be a little boring for me. I have been slacking on my cleaning and stuff because of how much it bores me I have done some deep cleanings though lately and I really just want to get rid of all but possibly 3 of my fish. I want to keep my 1 pearl gourami, 1 Red Tailed Shark and my BN Pleco so what else would be some cool interesting fish I could maybe get for this tank? And so you guys know I have a aqua clear 70 for filtration to.

Hi, I don't know if you are planning on COMPLETELY resetting the tank or not but if you are I would recommend a dirted NPT tank. If you do some research on them so you know what you are getting into they can be an awesome project to put together and since you don't like vacuuming and doing maintenance an NPT will also be good because they only need water changes for the first year or so. THey are really cool tanks and I now have 2 and one that is an NPT without the dirt. Here are some threads that I posted a while back on NPT's if you want to look. I think the plants add so much to the tank that it is no longer a fish tank... it is more of its own little ecosystem which is just really cool to have.

I would consider upgrading your filter before you get any more fish. With HOB filters you want around 10x flow rate of your tank size. So you have a 55g tank so ideally you want a flow rate of 550 GPH. Your aquaclear 70 only has a GPH of 300. If you get a better filter it might help with your cleaning :)

I agree with this (you could just add another filter which would be easier and give more options). Also though I forgot to mention that with an NPT you wouldn't need to increase your filtration. 300 gph would be plenty with the help of all the plants... just food for thought.

I love the suggestion of a NPT! Hope you consider it. :)
