Residue On Glass And Busted Filter

I’ve had a brackish setup for two fiddlers for about 3 weeks now. I didn’t like the first sand I put in it so I replaced it with a much more natural, finer sand. It makes my water stay cloudy. I think it also busted my filter because it won’t even run now. I used Seachem Clarity to help the cloudiness. Well, it worked, but the residue stuck all over my glass and is impeding my view. I tried to wipe it off but it’s almost like it’s calcified (the sand is not calcium carbonate). I even scrubbed at it with a sponge and not much came off.

Any ideas?

I did not wash it first. It wasn’t an issue though until I used Seachem Clarity. I will try a brush.

I ended up having to buy a scraper to scrape it all off.
