Resealing tank vs new tank

From previous question my silicone from my 6 year old tank is starting to show signs of failure so I have to take action sooner than later. I have a 46 gallon bow tank, but I can't find any 46 gallon bowfront tanks new or old tanks so I'll have to choose between a 40 gal or a 55 gal. Right now I'm trying to decide to either resilicone my tank or buy another tank.

what would be the best suggestion?

Might just be me but the only thing i can think of is thats one heck of a great excuse to get the bigger 55g tank and im not really a fan of bow fronts.

Maybe get the 55g, move your stock to it for awhile while you reseal your bowfront...then afyerwards you have both!

Can I ask what the signs of failure in the silicone are?

Can I ask what the signs of failure in the silicone are?

The first pic due to fish nibbling on the silicone almost at the seam.

The second are big bubbles forming at the seam.

From what I read and heard from other people those are normally the signs that the silicone will not hold up for a long period of time.

Good on you for acknowledging the problem and yeah a new tank might be better your fish would love a bit more space
